As you know, at Rock and Roll Daycare, we focus on a different country every two months so that our students learn more about the world and other cultures. During May and June, our focus is on France.
One of the exciting things about teaching young children about different countries is that, for many, it is the first time they’ve heard about some of these things. But, since kids are little sponges, they grasp many of the ideas quickly and embrace them.
Here are some of the things children at our Rock and Roll Daycare centers and Nannyshare programs are learning right now!
Our French Heritage Guide is our go-to source for everything French. Our instructors use this guide to teach children about French culture. It provides them with kid-friendly lessons that teach and entertain at the same time.
One of the things the children are learning these two months is about the city of Lyon. Lyon is France’s third-largest city and is located where the Rhone and Saone rivers meet.
You also can’t talk about France without mentioning Notre Dame. Notre Dame is a widely recognized cathedral that is a symbol of French culture. Unfortunately, there was a devastating fire there in April 2019. The cathedral is still undergoing renovations and hopes to be fully functional once again by 2024.
During these two months, we are also teaching children about the Tour de France. This bicycling competition dates back to 1903 and is still widely popular today. This is a fun addition to our lessons because many kids love to hear about the outdoors and sports!
This is just a taste of what our children are learning right now. We also incorporate other fun activities to help them find out more about the country we are currently studying.
We love to teach children and families about other cultures. That’s why we will soon be offering a subscription box that you can get delivered right to your door. It will contain all of the materials necessary to teach your children about different cultures. Keep an eye out for it this summer! In the meantime, check out our Instagram page where we offer fun, free activities for kids regularly! Au revoir for now!
